Commission for the Operation and Promotion of Academic Activities (COFAA)


Created in 1967 to contribute to Institute activities in technical en areas, the COFAA has become the main support unit for the training of scholars and researchers by means of scholarship granting, event organization and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Furthermore, it promotes and manages economic resources’ contributions through the Fund Raising Institutional Program.



Cosntruction and Facilities Patronage (POI)


Since 1967, the Patronage performs construction, refurbishment, and adaptation works of the buildings that make up the Institute’s heritage. Such activities are performed through management of budgetary financial resources and self generated revenues from grants and other contributions.



National Polytechnic Institute Research and Advanced Studies Center (CINVESTAV)


Since its creation in 1961 CINVESTAV has excelled in scientific and technological research activities. Its projects build a close relationship with the productive sector and its quality has been broadly acknowledged in the national and international research arena.

It currently features 28 academic departments located at eight Units: three in Mexico City and the other five in different cities around the country. It teaches post-graduate programs in Exact and Natural Sciences; Biological and Health Sciences; Technology and Engineering; and Social and Human Sciences. All its programs are recognized by the Excellence Post-Graduate Studies Register of the National Science and Technology Council.




TV Channel Eleven (CANAL ONCE)


Institute’s XE IPN Channel Eleven has broadcasted for the past 46 years, and is the oldest public service TV station in Latin America. In line with its social purpose, program planning of Canal Once responds to a wide range of segments of Mexican society with a common interest in politics, economy, nature, entertainment, art, health and science, among many other topics. Children, youngsters and adults always find programs that meet their likes and needs as far as education and information is concerned. Canal Once covers a large part of the Mexican territory with broadcasting stations and 17 repeating stations, as well as the satellite and cable TV systems. Channel Once Mexico has audience in US households via Direct TV, and, as its slogan goes, it is “an open window to México… Once México.”





National Calculus Center (CENAC)


It began operations in 1963 with activities focused on the development of computer equipment and the study of rational use of such equipment. Provides support to the academic and administrative community by means of analysis, design, development and implementation of IT architectures. It keeps the institutional data-bases updated and has built a strategic partnership with the Academic and Administrative Units that make up the Institute, in order to leverage the management of IT systems.
